Stop Making Excuses And Overcome Procrastination

One reason people get stuck in the rut of procrastination is because they come to believe their own excuses. Procrastination is one of the main blocks to a rich and fulfilling live. Procrastination can be overcome but the first thing you must do is decide to stop making excuses.

Have you been caught in that rut? If so, here is a way you can take charge and stop making excuses for not getting things done.

First of all, make a list of all the things in your life that you have put off and are left undone. This could be something at work, at home, in the area of personal development, or in your personal relationships.

Next, look at your list and pick out one that you can take action on today. Now, write down all of the excuses you have for procrastinating on this issue and the consequences to your life for doing so. Then ask yourself if you are happy living with these consequences. Ask yourself if you have an honest reason for not completing this task.

Be honest with yourself. You are doing this for you, no one else. As you go through the above steps, if you find that you do indeed have a legitimate reason for not taking action on the item you selected, then move on to something else that you can definitely do today. Once you have selected your task, then do it. Once you have completed it you will have a great sense of self satisfaction and should be motivated to continue to work through your list. Of course you won't be able to do it all in a day, but make it a point to take action of some kind each day towards completing the tasks on your list.

Getting things done requires only two things: the ability to stay focused and taking the right action. People who are successful in life or business are the ones who have the ability to get things done. They do not succumb to procrastination and you shouldn't either. You must decide what you want and force yourself to take action to achieve it. Also you should be prepared to make mistakes as we all make them. The key is to learn from them and move on. Promise yourself you will stop making excuses for not getting things done.

Eliminate your excuses, focus on what you can get done today and do it. You can overcome procrastination. All it takes is training yourself to consistently take action towards achieving a task each day.
