Overcome Procrastination And Lead A Richer Life

There is no such thing as a born procrastinator. If you are one, it is because you have learned the bad habit one step at a time. The good news is that you can also unlearn it one step at a time and go on to lead a rich life free from the burden of procrastination.

The first step to overcome procrastination is to decide that you want to change and develop new and better habits. You can change but it won't happen unless you really want it to. In order to beat procrastination you need to take action, wasting your time reading self help books will do no good unless you get busy and take action.

If you procrastinate, you are not alone. It is a common problem and it keeps you from living the best life possible. There are many reasons why you might procrastinate. It could be out of fatigue, indecision, depression, disorganization, a fear of success, or a fear of failure. You probably won't be able to kick procrastination overnight but you can gradually build your self discipline muscles by taking consistent action each day.

Take responsibility for your failures

Don't make the mistake of blaming your failures on circumstances that are out of your control To do so is setting yourself up to be in a rut of procrastination. Instead, you must take responsibility for the state of your life and for your bad procrastination habit. Actually, once you realize that you are responsible for your procrastination then you should realize that you can change it.

Just do it

To be successful, you have to be committed to do whatever it should take to reach your goal. Success depends upon your ability to stay focused and your consistent daily actions. It really doesn't matter what your goal is. It could be that you need to complete a report for work or clear your closet of clutter. You may want to lose weight or improve a relationship. Tasks come in all sizes and are of different levels of importance. The factors that determine your success in accomplishing them however, remain the same - your ability to focus and your self discipline.

Establish priorities

Fighting procrastination is a constant struggle for a lot of people. That is why it is so important to have your priorities figured out. Know what is important and what needs to be done immediately and don't let anything get in your way of accomplishing it. If you have been procrastinating for a long time, then chances are you have several projects backed up. Do not allow yourself to be overwhelmed or you will let procrastination win the fight. You can't do everything in a day so go through your to-do list and prioritize. Make a commitment to take action each day on a high priority item from your list. Before long you will have developed a habit of consistent action and it will be easier and easier to ward off procrastination.
